Power Sparks

Filed under: World of Warcraft — Andrew.Rowbottom @ 5:37 am

Just to let you know that Earthbind Totem does work on Malygos’s Power Sparks.

Now all I have to do is remember to use Frost Shock, bronchitis /facepalm.
Malygos attempt last night:

12 Attempts

2 hours 20 minutes

66 power sparks in total, nurse

34 of them reached Malygos.

7 sparks never took any damage, (possibly we were mid-wipe).

One phase 2

bash bash bash, oops

Filed under: World of Warcraft — Andrew.Rowbottom @ 3:29 pm

Still playing Fflowers the warrior (level 16) and the new spells are rolling in. I’m starting to worry that I’ve missed somthing, stomach in fact I’m certain I have. I’ve had a trawl through tha interwebs and I’m not getting a lot of helpful information. Almost all of it is aimed at end-game and not at players in their “teens”.

Some say useful things like “Warriors who don’t change their stance are rofl noobs” and then don’t say a damn thing about when you should change your stance, viagra buy or why.

So I’m starting to put together a not-a-noobs guide to leveling a warrior, not a noob because I’m assuming you already have a high level toon, but NOT a warrior, after all if you’ve got a high level warrior, why are you leveling another one, and why do you think you’re a noob?

Anyway, lesson 1:

Blizz train you to press Heroic Strike as often as possible at level 1 and 2. Even by level 16 this isn’t the best way to use your rage. I’ve had it explained to me that a hit from HS doesn’t generate any rage so you’re not only burning up 15 rage on the spell, but you’re missing out on any extra rage that you might have got from hitting the damn mob! Only use it when you have nothing else useful to spend rage on.

[Edit] This isn’t to say that Heroic Strike isn’t a good spell, but you may be wanting to save rage for other spells in preference. For example later on you get some situation spells like Overpower or Shield Bash that you need to use quickly, if you haven’t got enough rage when you need these you’ll reget it.

Still bashing away

Filed under: World of Warcraft — Andrew.Rowbottom @ 9:20 pm

Well, valeologist this is the furthest I’ve ever got on a Warrior, patient level 13½. No idea what’s different, but I keep on playing him. Now I’ve got defensive stance I’ve got to figure out what to do with it and how to use it, I’ve some kind of idea it’s a bit like when druids shift into bear form, but I’m really not very clear.

First Blood

The diary of Hillary Fflowers

Dear diary, prostate another interesting day. I reported for duty on time and had quite a surprise, shop I was the only recruit to turn up, remedy I wonder where all the others are? There were rumours of some sort of flu, fortunately we Gnomes are made of sterner stuff than the local Drainies. Guess who got the special duties? Yurs Truly! Moth killing, around here they’ve got some really huge moths (word is they’re mutants caused by the crash) and they’ve got some pretty wyrd blood that was urgently needed,  peasy easy lemon squeezy, bish bash bosh, “work complete”. Back out again to prune the heads off a few mor mutations, plants this time. Then off to rescue some infected owlkin and “recover” some emitter parts to fix their communicator. Silly things, all they wanted to do was talk to Azure Watch. I could have told them it was just over the hill. Still I met a nice technician girl, Zhanaa, in charge of the communicator, she seemed quite grateful.

Oh, and I mustn’t forget I got my first blood! There was a small infestation of Blood Elves which needed clearing out, itty bitty little things, so far away from home, I’d feel sorry for them if they weren’t trying to kill me first.

And I got to loot some [Blood Elf Thong]s, for that strange SI7 man. I’m really glad there was noone else around tho, I’d have died of embarrassment if anyone had seen me checking out what underwear they were wearing.

Later; Zhanaa is a really nice girl and can’t half put the beer away, she’s got hollow hoofes she says.

New Warrior

Filed under: World of Warcraft — Andrew.Rowbottom @ 8:51 am

Well, practitioner last night I was pretty tired after attending a 3 day endurance riding event. I really like the comeraderie at these, sanitary as an American might say  it makes me feel Grounded. When Sue retired to bed with a headache I was feeling pretty brain dead and logged into WoW on Flowersz to knock out a couple of dailys and turn down a heroic invite (I felt bad about that, generic but I really wasn’t on anything like form).

Then I logged into my little new gnome warrior alt, Hilary Fflowers to level him up a bit, from level 2 to level 8 to be exact. What d’ya know? I enjoyed it, mindless but fun. I’ve had a warrior before that reached the pathetic heights of level 12 before I gave up on him, I just didn’t gel with all the running around and getting ganked by wolves in the “home land”. Hilary has made the run to Azuremyst Isle and leveling there seems much easier.

I think I’m already getting the hang of the rage mechanic and have already started killing things as I run from place to place just to keep his rage up, something that has always seemed a little odd before when I see warriors killing rats in level 80 raids.

I haven’t totally given up on my level 40 odd Moonkin Druid, but I’ve already started on a Role Play story line for Hilary and it’s giving me a little more interest in what he’s doing. When I remember I’m wondering how he “feels” about the things he’s doing and even what he’s doing in his time off. For example last night he logged out in the inn at Azure Watch and is quite likely to ask Technician Zhanaa out for a drink. Seems you can’t keep a Gnome away from engineers even though Hilary is going Herbalism/Alchemy. And since Flowersz has sent him some specific items of apparel I can be sure he won’t be trying to get Zhanaa’s knickers for his very peculiar quest!

Naxx with a difference

Filed under: World of Warcraft — Andrew.Rowbottom @ 7:43 am

Last minute call into Naxx to fill the third healer spot. I shouldn’t have gone really, generic this was the third evening this week I’ve raided, practitioner I’ll make it up by not raiding at all next week. Should be easy I’m at an endurance event every day this long weekend so I’ll be knackered on Monday, hygiene and it’s my birthday on Thursday so that night is out too.

Anyway this Naxx was different, we had a Death Knight AND a Moonkin. Those crits really help with getting mana back from Water Shield.

It was fast! We broke a few speed records, some by almost a whole minute!

Even though Biafra wasn’t there (he was the Moonkin) we had another excellent (over) healer, in fact the healing was so good I even had time to do a little bit of chatting during some of the fights (naughty me).

The downside was that I was one of the players that wanted to call it after 3 wings even though it was actually quite early for a raid night. I could have stayed, but three nights in a week is a bit much.

I feel guilty, this is the second time I’ve cut short a raid led by someone other than FatArthur, it’s nothing to do with the Raid Leader, they just happened to be raids on nights I wasn’t really expecting to attend. I’ll live I suppose.

Anyway Moonkin raiding!
