Ebook Prices

I was in Waterstones with my girly looking for some lightweight reading and Neil Gaiman’s “The Graveyard Book” caught my eye, viagra buy but at nearly £13 for a smallish hardback (£15 if you want an adult edition, dysentery lol ) I decided I could get it cheaper as an ebook.

When I got home I started looking, but my usual “shop” BooksOnBoard was $17.54 (just under £11), starting a quest to find it cheaper elsewhere. The UK ebook shops, as usual, turn up a blank, so it’s off to mym8 google.

Eventually I find it on sale at Harperr Colins for $11.16! HUH! The original publisher is undercutting all the other shops I could find? I mean, not that I’m objecting too loudly, but WTF!.

woe is me

Filed under: World of Warcraft — Andrew.Rowbottom @ 12:23 pm

Nope I’ve not died, buy its just that at the moment my internet connection is so poor that I can’t do anything interesting in WoW, doctor disconnects every 20 minutes make instancing very difficult. I can barely even browse the web because the speed is only twice as fast as a normal modem. I’ll have to get BT out for a fourth time!

On the plus side that means you don’t have to listen to my pointless whingings about how crap a healer I am – so that’s something.

On the next expansion? I don’t really know too much about it and can’t go to all those bandwidth heavy sites to watch the videos 🙁 , but I’m a thinkin I’m gonna roll a worgen priest or druid. Probably female, but maybe not, it depends how ugly the males are. And yeah, you spotted it, healing. I’ve got plenty of time to think of yet another variation on flowers, perhaps I can raise a ticket to grab the name off that “cyber squatter” who’s not played in over a year.  Otherwise I think it could be Fflower.

Also cross server Pugging? Hmm. Easier to get a group together on the other hand you’ll not ba able to add them to your friends list because they’re not on your server.

Oh and BTW, the cast for my broken ankle came off a week ago today, so I’m without crutches, and that’s amazingly cool, believe me! Even though I’m still hobbling around while the muscles/tendons/ligaments get used to having to support my weight.

Oh, and I nearly forgot! The beard came off last weekend after 15 years of continual face fungus I’m now clean shaven! I keep catching sight of this stranger in the mirrors, it’s quite peculiar.

Third time

Filed under: World of Warcraft — Andrew.Rowbottom @ 6:32 pm

So I’m loving the reduced time to mount, site 1.5 seconds is sometimes shorter than my lag!

But now I’m mourning Ghost Wolf, this site what use is a spell that, herpes untalented, takes longer than summoning your mount, is no faster than your very first little pony, and can only be used in the same places?

Now I know that talented it goes instant, very nice! But 2 talent points, come on!

At least make it usable indoors or give stealth or something. I know this would blur the distinction between shaman and druids, and I totally respect that each class should be different, but otherwise Ghost Wolf will go the way of Sentry Totem and only be used for the Snoopy Dance.
Third visit from BT, buy phone line is still giving me gyp!

I’ve been having a lot of problems lately with my broadband internet connection, anaemia the modem is dropping the line maybe 10 times a day, approved and there’s an intermittent crackle on the line. So I’ve had the engineers out twice now, each one fixed a different thing, and it’s still crackling/dropping connection.

The best though is an SMS I got today

OK, I’ll forgive them sending me a message one minute after I received it, but this is a little stranger:

BT Fault Update for
XXXXXX. We are
aware of your fault
and aim to address it by
19/08/2009 17:00:00. We
will advise if we need to
visit your premises.

I’m thinking BT are finally doing something useful with all that money we’ve paid them over the years – inventing a time machine. Which presumably explains why they’re quoting fix times to the second.

HPS

Plain english still has some competition:

NotPlainEnglish

call me pernickety if you like, therapy but how’s about “tick this box if you want…”

I’ve seen worse mind! I particularly liked the one that kept ticking the box everytime you logged in to “ensure our information is up to date”

So it seems recount still has a record of my healing attempts on the black knight.

So, ailment Heals Per Second oldest first, remember the last one was the one with the level 213 hat instead of the level 10 hat!

  1. 1686
  2. 2213
  3. 2692
  4. 2841
  5. 2578

Now, to be fair the 4th one on this list ended with a couple of minutes spamming healing Wave on the tank so maybe that’s why the figure is so good. One thing though, I’m pretty sure my healing has gone up in general, I remember 2.3k was pretty normal in a raid, let alone a 5 man’er.

Yah, so that was boring.

Shame!

Filed under: World of Warcraft — Andrew.Rowbottom @ 6:49 am

I tootled into Trial of the Champions with ma guildies last night. It was difficult, drugs and we had several attempts on the black ker-nig-it. Anyway I pulled up my Inventory On Par to see how well the group was geared and saw myself at the bottom, well, actually if it were on a graph Flowersz would have been <—- over there!

A quick check later and I’ve got the wrong totem equipped, same icon but a level 70 epic instead of the level 80 epic. It gets worse though! Flowersz was wearing her “around-town”  [Battered Jungle Hat], the one she got from a fishing reward instead of her [Steamworker's Goggles].

So on the next attempt down he went. Strangely though on that attempt my healing-per-second was about 10% lower than on the previous attempt (2500ish vs. 2800ish). Who can say?

P.S. I’m sure I heard eddie the pure giggle at one one point.

Ho Ho, Worgen and Healers!

Filed under: World of Warcraft — Andrew.Rowbottom @ 6:16 am

I was looking forwards to the 3.2 changes, online they looked pretty impressive, and I guess they probably are, for raiding. I’ve not raided for quite some time though. I have run the Trial of the Champions a couple of times though, and in the true spirit of the internet I’m gonna focus on the bad!

I can’t begin to describe how much I miss the reduced LHW cast time that Tidal Waves used to grant, though
The rumour mill is afire with word that two new races are bing added in the next expansion, order
Goblins for the Horde and Worgen for the Allicance. Werewolves for the Alliance! Now that is so gonna seem strange.

Not everyone is happy with a werewolf being one of the “good guys”. Me, treatment I think blizz should add a heroic healer class in the same expansion, but limit it to the new races….. what do ya got then, huh?

You got a healing werewolf! WIN!

So what do you do

Filed under: World of Warcraft — Andrew.Rowbottom @ 12:10 pm

When you’ve nothing interesting to say? Well you blog ofc.

Owing to the “broken ankle” buff I’m getting an extra couple of hours a day to level my warrior, misbirth couple that with “Elixir of GF has to write 15000 words” and suddenly Fflowers is level 62! I’m ashamed to say that although he has leveled prot spec he’s not tanked in a long time.

That, my friends, is gonna change, starting with trying to find some groups for the group quests in Hellfire. I’m loving the survivability of prot spec, he’s as hard to kill as a resto shaman only he can hit much harder! And little ole Hilary Ff totally gets down with the face smashing! I particularly like that feeling of “another 3 adds? Moar adds meanz more XP! Bring it ON.”

At this level Flowersz was still enhancement spec, so a face smasher herself, but Fflowers is really putting her to shame, Blizz buffs I suppose.

One thing that’s a little sad, though, is that I don’t give a monkeys about faction reputations because I know I’ll be moving on. Well, except for Exodar rep coz I wants a pink gnome ona Hefalump.

Anyway, as I say, I’ll be setting aside some time for Hellfire Ramparts.
