Little on the slow side here.

Strange that I’ve not seen this any-were else, but the day that they released Cataclysm and more significantly Worgen, which we all know are werewolves, was a night when the moon could not be seen – aka the exact opposite of a full moon?

Coincidence?

Well, probably yes.

Woofsbane

Woofsbane the worgen.
What was I thinking!

I got slightly freaked

A few days ago I was reading an article in new scientist (Summon a ‘demon’ to turn information into energy), it’s the usual kind of stuff except one phrase really caught my eye: at room temperature, one bit of information converts to about 3 x 10-21 joules.

That’s freaky! I’ve often come across phrases taking about about data-compression and entropy in the same sentance, but this small statement means that there is a real, honest to goodness, relationship between the physical world and the world of information.

The numbers are still very small, but none the less actual numbers!

Slightly less freaky, but impressive is that someone called Leó Szilárd actually worked out this value theoretically way back in 1929, and have been shown to be right by this experiment.

1929 – that’s 10 years before the first electronic computers!

Advent Calendar

After several days of eclairs (yuk) finally got some real chocolate.

Our advent calendar is in the pic below and was a cheapish something we bought a couple of years ago when we didn’t like the cardboard prepacked calendars on sale. Each day is a little box, and we fill them with chocs at the start of advent.

A friend of ours used to fill one with marbles, tiny blacksmiths puzzles, pair of magnets and other tiny stuff, but we’re not quite up to that.

Level 80

Well, I was worried a few weeks ago that I wouldn’t manage to complete the palatank project, vis a vis getting Fflow to the level cap before Cataclysm was released. I did make it though, a few days back, making him my second only character to hit the level cap.

Level 80 achieved, I began to buy him some cheap auction house blue quality gear for to start running heroic dungeon. When I suddenly realised that there wasn’t a lot of point. A freshminted tank in blues just wasn’t going to be able to cut the mustard when all of the DPS were going to be in tier 10 epics! I have already had a little experience of this the other day in CoT Culling of Stratholme trying to keep aggro off a full epic Hunter.

Fortunately Cataclysm will be out in a few days and the playing field will level out again after a little bit. Also I’ll get to group with my guildies for a change. And I can legitimately ask them to behave. If they don’t we’ll at least be able to have a laugh about it.

Tip of the day

Cheap shit is:
a) Cheap
b) Shit

What you find on Google streetview!

You could read the number-plate too!

quietly

Content free post as usual.

It’s been quiet, my workload has stepped up and te WoW stuff is a bit same-old-same-old. But a few thinkgs of note are:

The munquis have downed the Litch King, good on them! I wasn’t present for small reasons, but then again, perhaps that has something to do with it :p

My palatank just dinged 75 making him my second equal highest level character. He got the last level through questing alone, which somehow makes me feel guilty.  I have a memory that leveling gets faster the closer you get to 80, but that might have been something to do getting a the flying mount, so I’m not sure I’ll see the same thing on Fflow. I’d like to get to 80 before cataclysm, but it’s not looking likely at the moment. 5 levels at roughly 4 hours per level is 20 hours, so it might just about be doable in under 18 days, but it smacks of a commitment level that I don’t have for WoW.

Cactaclysm has taken a small setback for me, I had a few days of extra holiday stacking up for the end of the year, and I’d originally planned to burn them up on Cata, but I’m on a training course the very day it comes out. Sad Rummy.

I am debating renaming Fflow to Rummy, but, as is the way of things, I’ve gotten quite used to the name over the last few months. Maybe Rummy can wait for a worgen.

And finally, on the maps front I’ve scanned in another 6 maps ready for processing.

My favourite bit of the Litch King encounter?

Call me sad, but there are two bits of the Litch King encounter in Wrath that always make me smile a little. Both are in the scripted part at the beginning. The first is when Tirion and Arthas are busy waving their swords about and basically hosing the floor down with testosterone.

The second bit is when Tirion says “Champions attack!” and we all stand there, just about as far away as we can possibly be and politely say ”No, after you.”

wot!

Oh yeah! A 32 character password! Are they trying to tell me something about security?

P.S. A password so complicated you have to write it down is worse than using your cat’s maiden name.
